MP Sharmanashvili: We value stability within SSSG, but Geka Geladze chose to step down; I am glad he remains within law enforcement
“The greater the stability within the State Security Service, the better, and we too would have wished for that, but Geka Geladze decided of his own accord to step down from the post,” stated MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority.
According to Sharmanashvili, he is glad that Geka Geladze has not quit the law enforcement system altogether.
“This was his own decision. It would have been a loss to the field to let an expert with such extensive experience walk away; following consultations, he was offered a specific position within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. I am glad that Geka Geladze has not left the law enforcement system. As to whether such frequent turnover among leadership is right or wrong, when you hand in your resignation, no one can hold you back against your will,” noted Sharmanashvili.
Geka Geladze resigned as Head of the State Security Service of Georgia yesterday. Tamaz Borashvili is set to assume the position of SSSG chief.
