MP Sharmanashvili: Gov’t will not implement OSCE Moscow Mechanism recommendations
A member of Georgia’s parliamentary majority, Tengiz Sharmanashvili, stated that the Georgian government does not intend to implement the recommendations issued under the OSCE Moscow Mechanism.
In an interview with Georgian Public Broadcaster First Channel, Sharmanashvili assessed the report and said that calls to repeal certain laws constitute interference in Georgia’s sovereignty.
“Of course, we are not going to share these recommendations, because this is a matter of Georgia’s sovereignty. The legislative space is a sovereign right of the country and we will not touch it,” he said.
According to Sharmanashvili, the document does not present evidence to support its recommendations and uses a “commanding tone” toward the country.
He also stated that the government has justified the adoption of legislation concerning family values and the protection of minors, which he described as having “existential importance” for Georgia.
