MP Sharmanashvili: Garibashvili’s letter is part of an orchestrated plot alongside opposition figures to cover up his corruption

“This entire affair is orchestrated. Just look at who supported Irakli Garibashvili’s letter and in what context. You will easily discover that these are all components of one grand script,” Georgian Dream MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili told GPB First Channel.

According to Sharmanashvili, the opposition figures repeating these allegations have not even bothered to alter the wording.

“It is regrettable and disheartening that our former party chairman has found himself in the same camp as Lomjaria and Gvaramia, peddling utter absurdity. One of Irakli Garibashvili’s primary motivations is to divert attention from his own corruption issues. Who on earth is going to believe that he was some paragon of virtue and that someone is attempting to frame him? Was a search not carried out at his residence? Were millions not recovered? We are past the era when someone could credibly claim that weapons or drugs were ‘planted’ on them. You cannot ‘plant’ millions in cash, and no one will buy such a narrative. And what about the luxury valuables that were seized? All of this demonstrates that this entire charade was designed to cover something up. It appears that the interests of the so-called opposition and his own agendas have aligned. I no longer have any doubt that Irakli Garibashvili is linked to these circles; otherwise, no one would be offering him such orchestrated and organised support,” Sharmanashvili stated.

When asked whether he suspects Garibashvili of serving external interests, Sharmanashvili responded that it would be highly suspicious to deploy identical phrasing simultaneously alongside Lomjaria and Gvaramia under any other circumstances.

“It is a fact that this did not happen by coincidence. We are watching this unfold in real time. Moreover, these figures are not consolidating around different topics; they are echoing identical talking points using the exact same phrasing. It is blatantly obvious that their ‘briefing’ originated from a single command centre, and now they are making noise. Compounding this, Garibashvili has a personal interest in overshadowing his legal troubles. All of this was dumped into the public domain under the guise of debate, but the electorate will see right through it,” Sharmanashvili noted.

Pressed on whether foreign forces might be manipulating Garibashvili, the Georgian Dream MP replied: “It is entirely possible. His actions certainly leave room for such a conclusion. How else could one end up in the same boat as Lomjaria and Gvaramia, repeating identical phrasing word for word?”
