MP Sarjveladze: President seeks to be involved in gov't success

“President Salome Zourabichvili is trying to become a co-participant of the success that the government brought to our country,” said Mikheil Sarjveladze, Chair of the parliamentary Human Rights Committee.

According to Mikheil Sarjveladze, the President changed her rhetoric after the European Commission recommended the European Council to grant candidate status to Georgia on November 8.

“I think the President acknowledged her mistake when she tried to portray the situation as if there was no progress and Georgia and the country did not deserve candidate status. She changed her rhetoric following the positive assessment and is trying not to be out of the game. Respectively, she tries to become a co-participant of the success that the government brought to our country,” he said.

On December 13, President Salome Zourabichvili will host a meeting with the diplomatic corps representing the EU member states at the Atoneli presidential residence. She will hand over signatures collected within the “Our Voice to Europe” campaign.
