MP Rati Ionatamishvili: Georgia deserves better than to have foreign-agent groups in its political arena
“The public can see clearly that these people are neither politicians nor representatives of political parties. They are projects in the hands of foreign forces, engaged in anti-state, anti-constitutional and anti-national activities,” said MP Rati Ionatamishvili, chair of Parliament’s Human Rights Committee.
He said their aims have not changed, although they are now failing to deliver on the tasks they have been set.
“Georgia does not deserve to have foreign-agent groups remaining in its political arena. That is why this process matters so much for protecting and strengthening the country’s sovereignty and democracy. In reality, they are not an opposition, and they no longer have any voters. As for the process of banning parties, it is a feature of any democracy,” Ionatamishvili said.
