MP Matikashvili: We survived disaster that befell Ukraine; patriotic government prevented Ukrainisation of Georgia

“Kaja Kallas should carefully read the OSCE/ODIHR conclusion on the parliamentary elections and understand what truly happened. The Georgian people elected the government they chose. Therefore, if someone respects the Georgian people, they must first and foremost show respect for the government elected by them,” stated MP Davit Matikashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Procedural Issues Committee, speaking to journalists.

He emphasised that deceiving the Georgian people is no longer acceptable, especially when other objectives are being pursued.

“The Georgian people no longer believe in all of this because the reality is quite different. As for Brussels, it’s clear that their interests are being realised against them; this is evident from the European Union’s economic situation. Protests are taking place in Brussels, and the world has seen farmers throwing potatoes in frustration.

It would be worthwhile for Kaja Kallas to answer why these protests are happening and to respond to those countries seeking to join the European Union.

On the broader political stage, the interests of European officials in Brussels, who operate largely behind the scenes, are unmistakably evident in their attitude towards Georgia, mirroring the approach they once had towards Ukraine and the incitement there. Not a single soldier from any EU country fought in the war; they left everything to the Ukrainians.

The outcome is now clear. If we draw an analogy with Georgia, we are survivors of the disaster that befell Ukraine. The reason for this is that the patriotic government prevented the Ukrainisation of Georgia,” said Davit Matikashvili.
