MP Matikashvili: German Ambassador should have acknowledged involvement in election propaganda

“If the German Ambassador were being truthful, he would have had to admit everything. He breaches the Vienna Convention every day, rather than fulfilling the diplomatic responsibilities assigned to him,” MP Davit Matikashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Issues, told GPB First Channel.

Matikashvili responded to German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer’s interview with Radio Liberty, in which Fischer claimed that he “has never violated the Vienna Convention or interfered in Georgia’s internal affairs.”

According to Matikashvili, “Peter Fischer should have confessed that he was involved in election propaganda.”

“He ought to have admitted that he attended meetings with radicals, engaged in election propaganda, and rented an apartment from the leader of a radical party. Clearly, he chose to speak about all this as a tactic to deflect attention,” MP Davit Matikashvili stated.
