“Unfortunately, they cannot conceal their true desires regarding Georgia. They remain committed to an agenda that will undoubtedly not lead Georgia or the European Union to the best outcome,” stated MP Davit Matikashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Issues.

When questioned about a video clip released by the EU Delegation on Georgian Flag Day, which also features footage of the recent rally, Matikashvili responded:

“I extend my congratulations to everyone on Georgia’s National Flag Day. The flag is one of our most important national symbols. As for the provocative nature of the footage, unfortunately, they cannot hide their real intentions. They cannot avoid pursuing an agenda that will certainly not bring the best results for Georgia or the European Union.

In Georgia, the national flag and respect for it symbolise our respect for the country itself. The comments made in that context reveal the true desires of those behind them. It is clear they are not focused on honouring the flag, but on their persistent willingness to resort to violence. They refuse to make objective assessments regarding the storming of the presidential palace and continue to voice their own will and preferences, unwilling to distance themselves from such actions,” said Davit Matikashvili.
