MP Manjgaladze deems EU integration as Georgia’s biggest strategic goal

EU integration is Georgia’s biggest strategic goal after territorial integrity restoration and de-occupation, said Paata Manjgaladze, opposition MP of the Strategy Aghmashenebeli party.

Making political statements at the plenary, Manjgaladze urged the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party to fulfil the 12-point recommendations instead of searching for whom to blame if Georgia failed to receive a candidate status.

“What are you doing? You offend Western partners and our European colleagues every day. You call MEPs lobbyists and say the European Union resembles the Soviet Union. You say that candidate status does not matter much, that it is a mousetrap. All this harms our opportunities, our chance to receive candidate status,” Manjgaladze addressed GD lawmakers.

The opposition MP also inquired about Georgia’s security concept if the government tried to delight Russia and portray the West as an adversary.
