MP Makhashvili: Radical opposition cannot win power through elections; only revolutionary scenarios remain
“There is great interest in having chaos in Georgia, because the radical opposition cannot come to power through elections. Accordingly, only revolutionary scenarios remain for them,” declared Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of Parliament’s European Integration Committee.
According to Makhashvili, appeals for peaceful overthrow and revolution are merely empty words.
“The closer local government elections approach, the more we will see that their hysterical initiatives and ideas know no bounds. This is ordinary hysteria. They see that the hopes they pinned on a peaceful overthrow have proved empty words. Because of this, they continue making hysterical statements, including Burchuladze’s declaration.
They may have many plans and ideas, as they are not lacking in creativity in this regard, but this plan requires implementation. Georgia is not the 1990s, when state institutions were destroyed. Today’s Georgia confounds them with the Georgia of the 1990s. If they wish to express their views within the law’s framework, they will have that opportunity, but appeals for peaceful overthrow and revolution are merely empty words.
There is great interest in having chaos in Georgia, because the radical opposition cannot come to power through elections. Accordingly, only revolutionary scenarios remain for them. That is why I say today’s Georgia confounds them with the 1990s period. The State Security Service, amongst others, is up to the task and will endeavour to avert state threats,” MP Levan Makhashvili declared.
