MP Makhashvili: I won’t dive into conspiracy theories, but Irakli Garibashvili and the opposition share a single narrative

“There is no room for doubt regarding former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, and the public is merely being fed political fairy tales designed to confuse minds and manipulate emotions,” declared MP Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration.

According to Makhashvili, the talking points advanced by the former Prime Minister and the opposition have become entirely aligned.

“This is a calculated effort to sacrifice due legal process on the altar of political games, and the two must be strictly decoupled. There are simply no unanswered questions surrounding Irakli Garibashvili. At no point have we seen or heard a single substantive argument from Garibashvili or his legal counsel to refute the allegations against him. Instead, we are treated to political fairy tales.

There is a deliberate attempt to bewilder the public with these fables, clouding judgment and playing on raw emotion to obscure or evade legal accountability entirely. Whilst I have no desire to indulge in conspiracy theories, I can logically connect the dots: Irakli Garibashvili and the opposition are aligned on the same flank. I leave the public to draw their own conclusions as to why that is. They are attempting to dilute a clear judicial process with political turmoil, all to dodge legal liability,” Makhashvili stated.
