MP Makhashvili: Extent of UNM’s criminal regime laid bare by parliamentary inquiry; people know who the real murderers are

“The parliamentary temporary commission of inquiry laid bare the true extent of the previous regime’s grave criminal history, meaning the public knows full well who the real murderers are,” Chairman of the Parliamentary European Integration Committee, MP Levan Makhashvili, declared.

“This is nothing new for Georgian political life: they spin a web of assumptions, mired and submerged in conspiracy theories, acting as the tentacles of the UNM spider. It is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. Regarding the rule of the United National Movement government, the Strasbourg Court ruled explicitly that they had established a system of torture in prisons, whilst hundreds of young people were gunned down in the streets. They would do well to take a cold shower before pointing fingers at others and levelling such grave accusations against Georgian Dream. The hearings of the parliamentary commission of inquiry underscored the profoundly criminal nature of this regime. So, if anyone is a murderer, the public knows full well who is being spoken about,” Levan Makhashvili stated.

For context, United National Movement member Ana Tsitlidze previously declared: “We call on the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia: if you need to question anyone regarding high-profile murders, you ought to question the main mastermind behind them, Bidzina Ivanishvili.”
