MP Makhashvili: EU and member states should replace Kaja Kallas with more competent and experienced leader

“It is ultimately for the European Union and its member states to determine whether to replace HRVP Kaja Kallas. However, we would strongly prefer to see a much more capable, experienced, and professional individual in this vital position,” MP Levan Makhashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority, stated.

According to Makhashvili, the EU is currently navigating a highly challenging geopolitical landscape, facing significant international upheavals.

“The European Union finds itself at the very centre of these turbulent events. If there has ever been a time in need of a professional, competent, and experienced diplomat – someone of impeccable diplomatic skill and integrity – it is now.

It is particularly unfortunate that, at this critical juncture, the head of the EU’s External Action Service is Kaja Kallas. Of course, it remains the decision of the EU and its member states whether to replace her or not, whether to view her as suitable for the role.

From Georgia’s perspective, however, given her history of perceived incompetence, undiplomatic conduct, and an unfair attitude towards Georgia, we would have preferred a far more capable, seasoned, and professional individual in this key position,” Makhashvili added.

European Parliament Vice-President Javi López Fernández has stated that Kaja Kallas is unsuitable for the role.
