MP Ionatamishvili: Pensioner robbery via ‘call centers’ among most immoral crimes

“One of the most immoral and serious crimes by its nature is the robbery of pensioners carried out through so-called ‘call centers.’ It does not matter whether these pensioners are citizens of Georgia or another country,” said Rati Ionatamishvili, Chairman of the Human Rights Protection Committee of Parliament.

According to Ionatamishvili, such acts are immoral in every case.

“Those who commit this crime and then question the morality of others demonstrate the kind of immoral individuals behind it. Law enforcement agencies must work effectively in this direction.

“As for the accusations made by Eliso Kiladze, European actors attempted to discredit Mamuka Mdinaradze, but they failed. When a person has a clear and untarnished reputation, opponents are powerless in their accusations. This is evident in this case.

Defamation is not only a legal offense; morally, it is one of the gravest actions a person can commit. Anyone engaging in such behaviour must be exposed each time. These individuals are trapped in their own slander,” Ionatamishvili stated.

For context, the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has charged Otar Partskhaladze in connection with the so-called call centre operations, involving fraud and money laundering. Eliso Kiladze, founder of the Kronika+ media outlet, is also detained in the same case.
