MP Gorduladze: We sign document initiating negotiations with EU if available; no divergence from European path
According to MP Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, the representatives of the European Union have confirmed in writing that Georgia is not to blame for the suspension of negotiations; rather, it was the European Union that halted the process.
In response to the protest rally scheduled for today, Gorduladze remarked that those participating seem either unwilling to face reality or are being deliberately funded and directed from external sources to revive a pre-existing accusation.
“There is no deviation from the European path. If someone presents a document that would open direct negotiations with the European Union, we will sign it. By 2030, we will be the most prepared country in fulfilling European directives and obligations. We ask for nothing; we are honouring our commitments, and the rest is for them to decide.
The government has taken away one of the weapons from the hands of the current European bureaucracy, led by the Deep State, which would have hung like the Sword of Damocles over Georgia and its people, as if there were democratic backsliding here and that negotiations should not be opened. They are already doing this, but without this statement, it would have been ensured even more intensively,” Gorduladze stated.
