“One of the pressing issues in our country is the cost of products, which calls for an appropriate response. The Prime Minister’s decision to address this matter is unquestionably welcome,” stated MP Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs.

MP Gorduladze also noted that it is important to investigate why prices are rising when the same products are significantly cheaper in other countries.

“This occurs even though labour costs, transportation, and rental expenses for distribution are higher there. In this regard, despite lower comparable expenses in Georgia, food prices are continuing to rise. These are essential products that every citizen consumes. It is important to investigate whether cartel deals or agreements are in place, resulting in the inflation of prices that citizens pay for food.

The Prime Minister’s decision exemplifies how the government listens to the concerns of the people and takes action. A parliamentary commission will be established, and work in this area will commence during the spring session,” said Gorduladze.
