MP Giorgi Gabunia welcomes government’s timely decision, promising more employment opportunities and labour benefits for Georgians
According to Giorgi Gabunia, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture, the government’s recent decision regarding the employment of foreigners in Georgia is both correct and well-timed.
When asked about the government’s resolution, which stipulates that foreigners without a permanent residence permit cannot be employed in passenger transport, courier services, or guiding roles, Gabunia responded:
“This is the right and timely decision. It will open up more opportunities for Georgian citizens to find employment and access labour benefits. I believe this measure will yield positive results in the near future and will have a beneficial impact on our people. It is standard international practice that wherever you reside, you need a specific permit for both residence and employment. Georgia’s growing economy has created numerous employment opportunities, and this prosperity must benefit our population. The decree sets out clear standards that must be met, ensuring a fair and regulated labour market,” Gabunia said.
