MP Giorgi Gabunia: Best candidate to be chosen as Culture Minister
“Tinatin Rukhadze had mentioned her health condition to me on multiple occasions; naturally, I will not go into details. We have no reason whatsoever to doubt her account,” stated MP Giorgi Gabunia, Chairman of the Parliamentary Culture Committee.
Gabunia expressed his gratitude to Tinatin Rukhadze for her service.
“I would like to thank Tinatin Rukhadze for her work. We collaborated closely during her tenure as Minister of Culture. She had mentioned her health condition to me on several occasions, though I will naturally not delve into specifics. We have no basis at all to doubt her statement. I wish her every success. Consultations are currently underway regarding the candidacy for the new Minister of Culture. The decision on the ministerial nominee rests with the Prime Minister. Whoever is chosen will be the finest candidate for the role.
Numerous challenges demand our collective effort, and I wish the incoming minister every success in tackling these issues. While infrastructure previously posed a key challenge, significant progress has been made across the regions through extensive renovations to community cultural centres and theatres. In this respect, the new minister’s work will be vital. Let us wait and see who will be selected,” Gabunia said.
For context, Georgia’s Minister of Culture, Tinatin Rukhadze, stepped down on July 28, citing health reasons.
