“We all agree that Georgia deserves NATO membership. The country is ready for it. NATO’s decision will show how and what instruments will make it happen,” said Victor Dolidze, a member of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, following the Georgian delegation’s meeting with Mircea Geoană, NATO Deputy Secretary General, in Brussels, Belgium.
According to Dolidze, the Georgian delegation summed up Georgia’s work for 2023 with the NATO colleagues to “gain more political support for practical cooperation” ahead of the Washington Summit.
Victor Dolidze believes that global developments and difficulties provide genuine opportunities. He added that NATO’s new security concept stipulates that Georgia would become a NATO member.
“Whether it happens today, tomorrow, or in three years, we avoid naming dates and statuses. It is less important whether this is done with or without MAP or by other mechanisms. The most important thing for us is that Georgia is ready and should become a member of NATO. The decision is up to NATO,” he said.
