MP Davit Matikashvili: Gakharia’s party is an integral component of the collective UNM; despite taking their seats, they persist on a destructive path

“Gakharia’s party forms an integral component of the collective United National Movement, a bloc that systematically campaigned against the state authorities, rejected democracy, and coalesced into opposition alliances,” stated MP Davit Matikashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Procedural Issues Committee.

As Matikashvili observed, even though members of ‘Gakharia For Georgia’ eventually entered Parliament, they continue to pursue a destructive trajectory.

“Leading up to the 2024 elections, a clear pattern emerged aimed at undermining democratic processes in Georgia through the vehicle of the collective United National Movement. The Gakharia loyalists played a central role in those efforts. Although they have now taken up their parliamentary seats, they persist along this destructive path.

Our constitutional lawsuit will be thoroughly backed by evidence; the ultimate determination now rests with the Constitutional Court,” Matikashvili declared.
