“When the US Secretary of State invites the Foreign Minister of Georgia to such a major summit, it demonstrates the nature of our current relationship with the American leadership, whilst also showing that the reset process has long been underway,” declared MP Irakli Cheishvili, a member of the parliamentary majority.

According to him, Georgia has transitioned to a new stage in its relations with the United States.

“An invitation to such an important summit highlights exactly this. We will have many other official meetings in the United States of America. This invitation signifies that we have moved to a new stage in our relations. The crucial point is that the process of engagement has begun, and there will be further cooperation, more summits, more invitations, and so forth,” Irakli Cheishvili stated.

For context, the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, participated in the ministerial meeting on “The Resurgence of Political Terrorism” in Washington, D.C., at the invitation of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where she addressed the gathered delegates.
