“Some leaders of EU countries have yet to realise that the division within the Georgian population and government is directly linked to their unfriendly activities,” said MP Maia Bitadze, a member of the parliamentary majority.

According to Bitadze, the Georgian Dream is the government elected by the Georgian people, and it is time for others to recognise this.

“It is deeply disappointing that the Lithuanian Foreign Minister shows so little concern for his own country and yet feels compelled to comment on Georgia. It saddens me that some EU leaders still fail to see that the division within Georgia stems from the unfriendly actions they have long engaged in. They must understand that the Georgian Dream is the government chosen by the Georgian people and that it strives to serve the main interests of our nation. All our current efforts, while safeguarding peace and sovereignty, are aimed at European integration, the very reason why the Georgian people elected the Georgian Dream,” Bitadze added.

Ahead of the EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Brussels, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys emphasised that free and fair elections are essential to restoring credibility to Georgia’s democratic institutions.
