MP Archil Gorduladze: Georgia strengthened legislation and simplified deportations of illegal residents

“Georgia is a hospitable country, and we are open to everyone who comes here. We will host them, but the law must be observed, and individuals should remain within the legal period,” stated MP Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee, to GPB First Channel.

He emphasised that Georgia will accept only those who abide by the law, respect our traditions, and honour the country’s history.

“Those who break the law will face the appropriate enforcement measures. To combat illegal migration, we have strengthened our legislation, making the deportation of those residing unlawfully in Georgia more straightforward. The Immigration Service is now operating even more effectively. Over the past year, the number of expelled migrants has matched the total expelled over the previous several years combined.

Rumours are suggesting that the number of people entering Georgia from certain countries has increased; this is simply not true,” Gorduladze affirmed.
