Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze has visited the ongoing rehabilitation works at the historic Jambakur-Orbeliani Palace Complex, situated in the village of Lamiskana, Kaspi Municipality.

“I am pleased to see the restoration of such significant cultural heritage sites. The Jambakur-Orbeliani Palace Complex is particularly notable for housing a museum. This rehabilitation project aims to restore and preserve this entire heritage for future generations. There are other sites of monument status within the same village that also require attention, and I believe that, together with local authorities, we should plan their renewal so that more people can appreciate the rich history this area holds,” said Tinatin Rukhadze.

Accompanying the minister during the inspection were: State Representative for the Shida Kartli Region, Simon Guledani; Mayor of Kaspi Municipality, Vakhtang Maisuradze; and Director General of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Protection, Tea Oniani.

The comprehensive rehabilitation of the complex is being carried out by the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Protection, with support from the Ministry of Culture.

At this stage of the project, the primary work has been completed on the roofing, façade, and internal renovations of the building; bathrooms and electrical wiring have been installed; the fence walls and their upper sections have been restored; roofing and insulation work on the towers is finished; and a specialised lift for people with disabilities has been installed.

Current works include fitting doors on the first floor, installing flooring on the second, repairing damaged fence pillars, dismantling and reassembling deteriorated brick lattices, cleaning the tower roof tiles, paving the courtyard with stones, and completing the electrical wiring network.

The rehabilitation of the Jambakur-Orbeliani Palace Complex is expected to be finished later this year.
