Mikheil Kiknadze appointed Acting Minister of Culture

By decree of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, dated July 28, 2026, Mikheil Kiknadze has been appointed First Deputy Minister of Culture of Georgia and will serve as Acting Minister in the interim, the Ministry of Culture reported.

“Mikheil Kiknadze is an economist by profession with many years’ experience in senior leadership roles within the public sector. He has worked within the Ministry of Culture system since 2025.

Before he was appointed First Deputy Minister of Culture, Kiknadze held the position of Head of the Ministry’s Internal Audit and Monitoring Department,” the Ministry statement read.

Georgia’s Minister of Culture, Tinatin Rukhadze, stepped down from her post on July 28. Tinatin Rukhadze cited health reasons in her resignation statement.
