Migration Department detains 7 foreign nationals

Within the framework of the fight against illegal migration, officers of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained 7 foreign nationals including citizens of India and Nigeria.

According to the MIA, law enforcers verified specified locations and revelaed that the individuals were residing in Georgia without legal grounds, in violation of the Law of Georgia On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons.

The individuals are currently being held at the Migration Department’s temporary accommodation center, pending their return to their countries of origin, the Ministry added.

“The Migration Department is responsible for combating illegal migration, including identifying and expelling foreign citizens residing in the country without legal grounds,” the Ministry stated.
