Migration Department, Border Police detain six foreign citizens

Officers of the Migration Department and Border Police, through jointly conducted complex investigation activities, detained 6 foreign citizens among them nationals of Turkey, Iran, India, Iraq and Egypt, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported.

The investigation determined that the detainees illegally stayed in Georgia. “They abused the terms provided by the asylum procedure and stayed in the country for years without a legal basis,” the MIA said.

In order to enforce the decision, the detained persons are currently placed in the temporary accommodation center of the Migration Department with the purpose of their further return to their countries of origin, the MIA said.
