MIA: Manifestation near Parliament turns violent

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia stated that the manifestation near the legislative body has escalated beyond the norms established by the law on peaceful assembly and demonstration, turning violent. The Ministry has called on all participants of the rally to obey the legal instructions of the police.

“The participants of the rally damaged the protective iron barrier located near the parliament building. Despite multiple appeals by law enforcement officers, the participants of the rally ignored the legal demands of police. To restore public order, the Ministry of Internal Affairs applied special means provided by the legislation. The Ministry of Internal Affairs once again calls on all participants of the rally to follow the legal instructions of police, not to allow the artificial escalation of the situation, otherwise, the law enforcement officers will administer special means defined by law,” stated the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
