MIA hosts delegation from Turkiye Interior Ministry

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is hosting a delegation from the Interior Ministry of Turkiye, led by Mahmut Demirtaş, Director General of the Turkish National Police.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Darakhvelidze welcomed the guests.

During the visit, the tenth meeting of the Joint Commission of the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Georgia and Turkiye took place. This commission convenes alternately in each country under the 1994 Agreement “On Cooperation in the Field of Security between the Government of Georgia and the Government of Turkiye.”

The meeting, held at the MIA, included representatives from the Border Police, Central Criminal Police Department, Patrol Police Department, Police Department of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and the International Relations Department. The Director of the Information-Analytical Department of the State Security Service of Georgia also participated.

The two sides reviewed the priorities of their respective law enforcement agencies and discussed plans for bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on combating crime.

After the meeting, both parties expressed their commitment to enhancing collaboration and strengthening the partnership between Georgian and Turkish law enforcement agencies.
