MIA: Former Defence Minister Bacho Akhalaia summoned as witness in October 4 case
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has announced that Bacho Akhalaia has been summoned to appear as a witness and provide a voice sample in connection with the events that occurred in Tbilisi on 4 October.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, former Defence Minister Bacho Akhalaia, born in 1980, has been summoned to the Central Criminal Police Department to give testimony and provide a voice sample on October 10, 2025, as part of the ongoing criminal investigation into the incidents.
“The investigation into the events that took place in Tbilisi on October 4 is ongoing. As part of this process, Bachana Akhalaia has been summoned as a witness for questioning and voice sampling at the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia,” the MIA stated.
Previously, Imedi TV released an audio recording purportedly of a telephone conversation between Paata Burchuladze and Bacho Akhalaia. However, the authenticity of this recording has not yet been confirmed.
