MEP Volgin: EU and US threatened Georgia with sanctions because Georgian government refuses to be puppet of Brussels and Washington
“The EU and the U.S. threatened Georgia with sanctions. Why? Because the Georgian government refuses to be a puppet of Brussels and Washington,” the MEP, Petar Volgin, said at the ongoing debate on Georgia in the European Parliament.
As the MEP noted, Georgia protected its interests and not those of foreign forces.
“Colleagues, the EU and the U.S. threatened Georgia with sanctions. Why? Because the Georgian government refuses to be a puppet of Brussels and Washington. And this country has defended its own interests, not those are foreign powers. In Georgia, important laws have been passed, including one on foreign agents and another on LGBT propaganda. It has been proven that foreign NGOs and journalists are working against Georgian interests. These structures, support America and globalist doctrines under another cloak. And they undermine the national state. They want to make Georgia another Euro-Atlantic puppet, and another colony. But there is no democratic backsliding in Georgia. And I hope that Georgia will not undergo the fate of many EU countries who are now puppets of other nations.
EU and U.S. Interference happens all over the world, even in my native Bulgaria, and other member states. There are NGOs who are funded by them and we see that this is happening through Open Society and under the cloak of promoting democracy through NGOs, and they follow foreign interests. I’ve seen that in Bulgaria. I’ve seen that in other countries too. I know that this is a mechanism that is present working everywhere. And to our great joy, Georgia is rejecting this mechanism. They are defecting, they are strengthening democracy,” he declared.
