MEP urges Georgian politicians not to sabotage country's future

Rasa Juknevičienė, a member of the European Parliament, urged “responsible politicians” in Georgia to listen to people and not sabotage the country’s future.

“Georgia belongs in Europe. Foreign Agent Law proposal jeopardizes the continuation of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic path. My appeal to all responsible politicians in Georgia – especially from the ruling party – please listen to your people. Do not sabotage your country’s future,” the MEP tweeted.

After multiple requests to disassemble, riot police forced demonstrators opposing the approval of the so-called Foreign Agents bills, initiated by the People’s Power movement, out of the vicinity of the Georgian Parliament and Rustaveli Avenue in downtown Tbilisi late last night.

The riot police used water cannons and teargas in a crackdown on the protest late on March 7.
