Hepatitis C Elimination Program is a national project and the national success – Mamuka Bakhtadze, Georgian Prime Minister said during the presentation of a new campaign launched in connection with World Hepatitis Day marked on July 28.
“Struggle with Hepatitis C remains a challenge to many countries. But Georgia is a unique country because the program for the elimination of Hepatitis C is already practiced and it has the status of a national project. The program has been introduced since 2015,” Bakhtadze said.
According to PM, about 1.5 million patients underwent thorough screening on Hepatitis C and more than 58 thousand people are involved in the program. About 54 thousand patients completed the program successfully.
The Georgian Ministry of IDPs, Labor, Health and Social Affairs has begun a new campaign “You C” together with the National Center of Diseases Control and Public Health in connection with World Hepatitis Day. Chairman of Parliament, Health Minister, MPs, and medical specialists attended the activity.
