Mamuka Bakhtadze: Georgia should be regional leader in terms of health care service delivering
The most important task is to be a regional leader in terms of delivering health care services in Georgia, – the Prime Minister of Georgia, Mamuka Bakhtadze, said at the opening of the new facility of New Hospital.
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Mamuka Bakhtadze and Minister of Health, David Sergeenko attended the opening ceremony of the new multi-profile facility of New Hospital.
“Most significant goal of our Economic Policy is to turn Georgia into an economic hub of the region and lead in terms of healthcare service delivery within this strategy” stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia when delivering a speech at the launch of an extension to the New Hospital today.
According to the Head of Government of Georgia, investments by the private sector and support of the authorities in similar projects is important for achieving this goal.
“Today New Hospital has been extended with a new building, which will cater new directions of healthcare. It has been years now that this clinic provides medical care to our citizens and any initiative related to a better healthcare service delivery to our citizens is particularly thrilling and gratifying for me” added the Prime Minister of Georgia.
According to the Head of Government of Georgia, healthcare is one of the priority directions of the Government and significant steps are made forward by the authorities to develop the system.
“We managed to increase the budget allocations for the healthcare sector in 2019 and it is a significant step, however we understand that challenges remain, along with faults that are related to the accessibility of healthcare services to our citizens in a more comfortable manner, supply of medication to our pensioners and socially vulnerable groups of population. We promise to all that we will by all means correct these faults also” added the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Head of Government of Georgia walked through the new facility and obtained detailed information about its services from the management of the clinic. Various directions will be stationed there. Cardio-Vascular Surgery Department will be commissioned with a full spectrum of pediatrics at the Children Health Centre, refurbished Orthopedic and Traumatology Center and extended Neurology and Neuro-Rehabilitation Department. It is planned to launch a Bone Marrow Transplant Centre at the New Hospital from April of the current year.
