Mamuka Bakhtadze - Georgia represents an exemplary country with respect of democracy consolidation and economic transformation
The vision of our future is based on the ambition to become a world-class country for living, working and development, – Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze said in his speech at the World Affairs Council in Seattle, US.
The Head of Government talked about Georgia’s achievements and challenges. Speaking about achievements, Georgian PM said that Georgia represented an exemplary country for many states with respect to democratic consolidation and economic transformation.
“Despite the success, challenges remain, unfortunately. Since 2008, 20% of our country’s territory has been occupied by Russia. After the occupation, 8% of our population was forced to leave their homes. Our country is proud of its history. We had been withstanding the Soviet occupation for 70 years and, of course, we will not allow Russia to determine our future.
We fully control our fate and our vision of the future is based on the ambition to become a world-class country for living, working and development. It may take some time to get back our territories, but this will definitely happen. Obviously, this will not happen with the use of force. This will be achieved through democracy, diplomacy, opportunities, development and humanity,” Bakhtadze said.
