Every fire-fighter and rescuer is a true hero – Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said during the meeting with about 50 rescuers, who participated in search efforts on the site of the blast in Zemo Ponichala settlement of Tbilisi, at the Governmental Administration. Prime Minister thanked the rescuers for their work.
“The government pays big attention to the development of Emergency Situations Management Service. We increased the budget for the service and it will have new fire-fighting and rescue vehicles before 2020,” Bakhtadze said. He added that the material-technical base of the service would have been renewed across Georgia by 2022.
The blast occurred in Zemo Ponichala settlement on November 15 presumably due to the gas leak, which caused the collapse of the 3rd and 4th floors of the building. The explosion claimed lives of a young woman and a child. Their dead bodies were found in ruins after 7-hour-long rescue efforts.
