Majority leader: BBC’s Director and News Head resigned over recent lies; now they spin new madness

“The BBC has unleashed a new wave of madness, claiming that Georgia used wartime chemical weapons against protesters, relying on figures like Chakhunashvili, Khasaia, Gigauri, and Shaishmelashvili. This is no longer just brainwashing; it is a grave insult to society,” said MP Irakli Kirtskhalia, leader of the parliamentary majority and chairman of the Georgian Dream faction.

Kirtskhalia commented on the BBC’s recent publication titled: WW1 toxic compound sprayed on Georgian protesters, BBC evidence suggests. The BBC alleges the use of chemical weapons from the First World War, citing paediatrician Konstantine Chakhunashvili, former head of the Special Task Force Lasha Shergelashvili, and expert Prof Christopher Holstege as sources. Respondents also include Eka Gigauri and Giorgi Bachiashvili. Furthermore, the BBC states that “the Georgian authorities said our investigation findings were ‘absurd’ and the police had acted legally in response to the ‘illegal actions of brutal criminals'”.

“A few days ago, the director and head of news at the BBC had to resign over a lie they spread. Now, they are peddling a new madness, claiming Georgia used wartime chemical weapons against protesters. Do you know who and what they’re relying on? These are Chakhunashvili, Khasaia, Gigauri, Shaishmelashvili, and others. These agents and radicals share this uncritically on social networks, which makes it all too easy to see what they have done and where they have taken these people.

This is no longer just brainwashing; it is a profound insult to society. Moreover, it starkly reveals the scale and absurdity of the actions of these agents and their masters,” Irakli Kirtskhalia stated.
