Major rehabilitation of Aleksandre Chavchavadze Street underway in Mtatsminda district

The Mtatsminda District Board has launched a comprehensive rehabilitation project along Aleksandre Chavchavadze Street in central Tbilisi.

Speaking at the municipal government meeting, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced that road and pedestrian infrastructure along the 321-metre street will be completely modernised.

According to the Mayor, the overall scope of the rehabilitation works spans 30,405 square metres.

“As a result of these works, the existing cobblestone surface will be replaced with a three-layer asphalt pavement. Kerbs and pavements will be installed, alongside bollards and safety railings. Existing infrastructure will be fully adapted to ensure accessibility for persons with disabilities. As part of the scheme, the obsolete underground utility networks will be entirely replaced: gas pipelines will be upgraded, power lines and internet cables will be buried underground, and modern lighting poles fitted with LED lanterns will be installed,” Kakha Kaladze stated.

The Mayor added that Georgian Water and Power (GWP) will be involved in modernising the water supply and drainage networks, with landscaping and green planting planned along the entire length of the street.
