Levan Zhorzholiani: We can lower prices for medicines with regulatory changes, to ease burden on citizens
“There was a meeting with representatives of medicines and pharmacy chains, where we agreed that prices can be reduced. This will require effort, and possibly a change in regulations,” said Levan Zhorzholiani, head of the government administration.
He explained that the government’s coordination commission aims to alleviate the financial burden on citizens regarding prices.
“The latest meeting of the Cross-Government Coordination Commission on food prices expanded its mandate to include medicines and fuel. During discussions with representatives and managers of pharmacy chains, we agreed that price reductions are feasible. Achieving this will require some effort and potentially regulatory adjustments, with ongoing active communication with the Ministry of Health. Our ultimate goal is to ease price pressures on the population and deliver tangible results, minimising social costs for every citizen,” Zhorzholiani stated.
