Lelo’s Salome Samadashvili says peace in Ukraine requires Putin’s readiness to stop war

“Russia started the war and the establishment of peace requires Putin regime’s readiness for peace. We do not see any changes in Russia’s position on this issue yet,” said Salome Samadashvili, a member of the opposition Lelo party.

According to Samadashvili, establishment of peace depends on effective pressure on Russia.

“Everybody desires peace in Ukraine. However, we should acknowledge that Russia started the war and the establishment of peace requires readiness of the Putin regime to stop the war. Whatever steps are taken by the third party, so-called peace-wishers or the Ukrainian authorities, we have no indications from the regime that it plans to stop the war.

We should realize that the establishment of peace requires effective pressure on Russia. We should wait to see what Russia’s reaction or attempt to end the war will follow. We do not see any changes in Russia’s position on this issue yet,” she said.
