“The MEGOBARI Act is a response to the “Russian Dream’s” political crimes it has committed over the past 13 years,” wrote Mamuka Khazaradze, the Lelo party leader, on Facebook.

According to Mamuka Khazaradze, the Georgian Dream has transformed into a Georgian Nightmare.

“The MEGOBARI Act is the response of the Georgian people to all the political crimes, violence, and repression that the “Russian Dream” has committed in Georgia over the past 13 years. Yes, the Georgian Dream has transformed into the Georgian nightmare by undermining the court and institutions, physically assaulting people, acting against Georgian society, violating the Constitution, rejecting the European course, depriving [Georgia of] economic stability and security guarantees, which the Anaklia Port promised.

Today, it is obvious that they will be held responsible, and the MEGOBARI Act is a prerequisite for that. The message is received. True friends stand by those who fight for freedom and dignity, not those who cling to power through fear and repression,” Khazaradze wrote on social media.

The House Chamber of the US Congress passed the MEGOBARI Act with 349 votes in favour. Among the supporters were 165 Republicans and 180 Democrats.
