Lelo’s Japaridze: Ideal scenario for GD is to conduct elections without opposition

“The ideal scenario for Georgian Dream is to conduct municipal elections on October 4 comfortably for themselves, without any opposition. That’s exactly why we won’t give them this opportunity,” one of Lelo’s leaders, Badri Japaridze, writes on social media.

“It would have been ideal for Georgian Dream if no national, pro-Western political group entered this battlefield, which would have allowed them to unobstructedly achieve complete concentration of power at the municipal level and marginalize the main political actors, since their goal is to destroy political opponents.

We made this decision precisely for this reason – to enter the fight and prevent Georgian Dream from achieving the above-mentioned goals.

To prevent Strong Georgia and Gakharia’s party from making the decision we have taken, we, the leaders of Strong Georgia, are now in prison, and that is why a case is being initiated against Giorgi Gakharia,” Japaridze wrote on Facebook.
