Lelo says more cooperation does not necessarily mean unified election lists

“Lelo party has taken the first step towards more cooperation. However, more cooperation does not necessarily mean common election lists,” said Lelo party member Grigol Gegelia.

According to Gegelia, Lelo’s decisions are grounded on the exposure of how Bidzina Ivanishvili’s (GD founder) regime should be defeated.

“Any decision that Lelo makes or will make will be based on the main priority. Lelo has clearly stated that it supports joint efforts and coordination. We are the political force that declared a moratorium towards different opposition politicians. We also support participation in the united national platform, but this does not mean common lists or common electoral pre-election format,” he said.

Grigol Gegelia believes that unified lists are not the right and successful recipe to defeat Ivanishvili’s government.

“The society ordered more cooperation, and Lelo is the political force which made the first statement and stepped towards cooperation. However, more cooperation does not mean unified lists. We do not believe that unified lists represent the correct and successful way for the defeat of Ivanishvili’s Russian government.

The priority is to defeat the government in service of Russia instead of creating one, two or three lists. We offered a hand of cooperation to have the alternative because Bidzina Ivanishvili’s defeat is unimaginable without creating an alternative to bipartisanship,” he said.
