Lelo says early elections to be trap for opposition

Early elections are within the interests of the Georgian Dream (GD) party, said Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of the opposition Lelo party.

“Demanding early elections is a mistake. Furthermore, it is a trap for the opposition. Early elections are within the interests of the Georgian Dream party. We should force them to fulfil the 12-point recommendations to receive EU candidate status. Europe is the demand of Georgian society,” Khazaradze said.

The Lelo leader provided two possible scenarios for future developments.

“Scenario 1: Georgia wins if it receives the candidate status. Scenario 2: If Georgia fails to receive the candidate status, the GD is doomed to a defeat in 2024 and the party’s full failure. Georgia also wins in this case,” Khazaradze wrote on Facebook.
