Kvaratskhelia out for the season with ACL rupture: “I’m ready for months of pain and tears” #1TVSPORT

Georgia captain Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has posted an emotional message on social media after being diagnosed with a serious injury:

“Many people used to ask me about this pose. Many even said that if every footballer in the world prayed, every match would end in a draw. That may be true, but before every game I asked God to let me leave the pitch healthy. This time it was in vain.

Not much time has passed, but one question keeps going round in my head: why me? I never cut corners. I probably prepared better for this match than I ever have. I thought I was ready for anything, but not for this. And yet I understand that God chose me, if by this I protected the other players on the pitch.

I am ready to go through these months of hard work, pain and tears. I know I must come back stronger for my people, who are always by my side. I won’t let you down. I promise I won’t waste a single second. Thank you all for your support. See you soon.”

Kvaratskhelia was injured in Paris Saint-Germain’s third-round Champions League match against Barcelona. The injury is serious. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will undergo surgery after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Kvaratskhelia faces a lengthy lay-off and will miss Georgia’s November internationals.
