Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University celebrates jubilee

The Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University celebrates its 90th jubilee of establishment. An official reception in honour of the invited guests and an exhibition of students’ works were held on the anniversary occasion.

The Drama Thater hosted the wrapping-up event attended by Minister of Education and Science Giorgi Amilakhvari, Imereti state envoy Zviad Shalamberidze, representatives of local government, partner universities, and other civic organizations.

According to the Education Minister, Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli University is a “distinguishable education place” both in Georgia and the South Caucasus region.

“It has a significant role and contribution in the history of education that was created in Georgia. This university has a special role in the values ​​that are created in Kutaisi, Western Georgia and the whole country. This is the fourth university that has a century-old history and once again points to the deep traditions and history that we have in Georgia in terms of education,” he said and pledged to strengthen the university’s function and to make it a “larger scientific institution.”

The Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University has 44 BA, 34 MA, and 7 Post-Graduate programs. Approximately 9000 students among them 800 foreigners study at the university. The University cooperates with leading universities in the US, Europe, and Asia as well as the embassies accredited in Georgia and international organizations.
