Kobakhidze on educational reform: Infrastructure and Education Ministries drive joint push for school construction and refurbishment

“We have faced distinct challenges in educational infrastructure,” stated Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during a press briefing.

The Prime Minister emphasised that decisive institutional reforms were enacted to resolve systemic delays and streamline execution across the sector.

“We previously had a dedicated legal entity under public law, the so-called ESIDA agency, which we abolished entirely, transferring its mandate directly to the Ministry of Infrastructure. While embedding this structural overhaul took time, all institutional hurdles have now been cleared.

Working hand in hand, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Education are driving the construction and refurbishment of our schools at full tilt.

The initial bottlenecks have been overcome. School construction and rehabilitation projects are resuming at full pace. Reviewing and overhauling the system naturally took time, but both the design phase and on-site works, covering both new construction and full refurbishment, will now press ahead with renewed vigour. This comprehensive push applies equally to our schools and municipal kindergartens,” the Prime Minister affirmed.
