Kobakhidze: Georgia seeks to renew strategic partnership with U.S. on mutually beneficial roadmap
“We sent both open and confidential letters to Donald Trump, expressing our shared desire to renew the strategic partnership from a clean slate,” stated Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
The Head of the Government emphasised that this renewed relationship should benefit both nations.
Kobakhidze also responded to questions about Ambassador Dunigan’s claim that a defamatory letter was sent to Donald Trump.
“That is a lie. If the ambassador made such a statement, she is untruthful. Unfortunately, we are familiar with many lies, both from the previous ambassador and the one before her. We remember numerous falsehoods, even the most serious, on various topics. No one appreciates such dishonesty.
We published an open letter and also sent a confidential one. The confidential letter was kept private because it needed to be; it addressed topics we preferred not to discuss publicly.
The same spirit underpins both letters. Our shared goal is to renew the strategic partnership with the United States from a clean slate, based on mutually beneficial messages for both countries, Georgia and the United States.
We hope for a positive and constructive attitude from the American side and that the strategic partnership will be restored. This is our sincere wish, and we are awaiting a response from the American side,” the Prime Minister stated.
