Kobakhidze: Deep State’s new plan aims to collapse Georgia’s economy, incite inter-ethnic hostility, and trigger a military conflict
“Under the Deep State’s new plan, their local network of agents must do everything in their power to deter Russian tourists from visiting Georgia, an effort intended to culminate in the Russian government severing all economic ties with our country under the pretext of alleged Russophobic sentiments in Georgia,” stated Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze during a press briefing at the Government Administration.
According to the Prime Minister, the objective of this campaign, much like the demands to open a second front and align with sanctions against Russia, is to orchestrate the collapse of Georgia’s economy, fan the flames of inter-ethnic animosity, and escalate tensions into military conflict.
“While in 2022, following the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the local radical agency was instructed by the Deep State to pressure the government into opening a second front and dispatching volunteers to Ukraine, concurrently with foreign agents suggesting Georgia take a military ‘stroll’ into Sokhumi and Tskhinvali, the Deep State’s new strategy dictates that their local operatives must pull out all the stops to ensure Russian tourists no longer enter Georgia. Ultimately, this is meant to force the Russian authorities to suspend all economic relations with our country on account of ostensible Russophobia in Georgia. The goal behind all of this, just as with the demands to open a second front and join the sanctions against Russia, is to trigger the collapse of Georgia’s economy, incite hostility between nations, and drive developments toward a military conflict. This path, in our case, leads directly to the extreme weakening and potential destruction of Georgia,” Kobakhidze declared.
