Khidasheli, Kandelaki appear before court magistrate in State Security probe
Tina Khidasheli and Giorgi Kandelaki are being questioned before a magistrate judge at the Tbilisi City Court as part of an investigation launched by the State Security Service of Georgia.
The politicians had initially been summoned for questioning by the State Security Service, but requested to answer investigators’ questions in the presence of a judge.
Gubaz Sanikidze was questioned in court yesterday.
In addition, Givi Targamadze, who is currently outside the country, has also been summoned for questioning.
According to a statement by the State Security Service, in recent days several individuals have publicly made statements alleging the recruitment of personnel in Georgia from other countries, including accusations or suggestions related to terrorism.
“We are closely monitoring both the content of these statements, which are contrary to the factual data, as well as the motivation of their authors to accuse Georgia of such issues, especially amid ongoing military hostilities in the region, taking into account that none of the authors has provided law enforcement agencies with any information.
An investigation is launched, and the authors of the statements will be questioned. They will be given the opportunity to at least indicate some specific facts within the framework of the investigation,” the SSSG said.
